SERVING TOXIC COCKTAILS ONBOARD

We have known since the 1980s that chronic intoxications do not have a specific set of symptoms. To demand that kind of evidence is nothing other than to deprive the victims of their rights. We have known since the 1980s that individual substance evaluations are absurd. Single substances rarely lead to i.e. toxic nerve damage, hyperreactivity, chronic fatigue and the like. The focus in the past concerning „aerotoxic syndrome“ was on a single substance, a toxin from the family of organophosphates known as “TCP” (tricresyl phosphate) which is present in the jet engine oils. The focus is too often still on this single substance.

However, according to Dr Timo Merz, a legal and environmental expert, “to use a single substance as proof of injury is a breach of law, something which is happening with flight attendants and pilots who are ill”, after being exposed to and inhaling toxic fumes. We know that the cabin air is taken from the turbine. Oils, toxic additives and pyrolysis products are released into the cabin breathing air. VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and gasses like carbon monoxide are known to be neurotoxic, immunotoxic and endocrine disrupting. Interaction between carbon monoxide and VOCs can even create practically instant ozone pollution, which also is known to be health damaging.

Despite recent and past research on air pollution having focused on the lifelong effects of chronic exposure, the airline / aviation industry is still trying to deny the effects of toxic pollution in the aircraft cabins and cockpits as a danger and a health & safety hazard.
What many don’t know is that we are talking of about around 200 substances. This indicates a need for action. From a legal point of view, this calls for the need of (more?) independent testing.

On the other hand, “those demanding to prove that a single substance, or that even each of these substances has "proven" its effect in a specific case of illness, has hair-raising ideas of toxicology.”

Such nonsense has the ring of aiding and abetting bodily harm. Such an understanding of science is, however, the usual guiding principle and is maintained by some „experts“, especially industry friendly experts.

This wrong way of thinking is ultimately the reason why so many people fall ill irreversibly. The wrong way of dealing with words leads to wrong thoughts and ultimately to people falling ill. We now know scientifically exactly how this chronic pathology develops: all these substances make a contribution.
