In 1998 she was forced in to a sort of 'job-related ill-health medical retirement' after a long period of sickness, diagnosed to be the result of 'Aerotoxic' poisoning with a severe neurological injury by toxic cabin air, and she is still fighting for her pension.
Bearnairdine is the founder of Aerotoxic Team and the joint network 'Global Aerotoxic Team', a website creating awareness and offering information and help on the topic 'toxic cabin air'. Dee Passon flew for 25 years, between 1979 and 2005.
She worked for British Airways, Air Europe, Britannia Airways and a private jet company as part of the cabin crew. She flew on various planes, including B 747 and B777 aircrafts.
She was promoted to Purser with British Airways in 1998 and promoted again to Cabin Service Director in 2004 on long haul, wide body jets. In the early 90s she also flew on private jets for a while carrying celebrities such as Cindy Crawford, Val Kilmer & Kenneth Branagh around.
In 1994, Dee trained as an aerobics instructor. She was fit, healthy, and had lots of energy. After a career break she returned to flying in January 1996 with British Airway. Over the next 12 years, her health steadily declined.
The first time alarm bells began to ring and she linked her occupation with her symptoms was when she was greeted by her oncologist with : “You are my eighth lady from British Airways this week.”
After being diagnosed with Aerotoxic Syndrome, which she has in a letter signed by her GP that states she has been permanently incapacitated by Aerotoxic Syndrome. she retired in 2009 and began researching natural ways to restore her health.
She is the founder of Toxic Free Airlines, and several facebook pages with the aim to help others in a similar situation, as well as the page ANGEL FLEET which honours our colleagues who have died, many of them way too young.
Dee put an enormous amount of work in to collecting data in an extensive 'Health Survey for Crews', creating an overview over several thousand self-reported ill-health issues and causes of death in air-crew. She campaigns to raise awareness and works as an unpaid adviser to affected passengers and crews of Aerotoxic Syndrome.
Dee chose to live by the sea to help her health condition.

Three Women, One Purpose
Through the eyes of women
Putting one step in front of the other is all that is required to make progress on a chosen path.
Which mountain is there to climb?
What mountain do we need to climb?
What does the mountain range look like in between?
Where is the action needed the most?
What needs to be done?
What strength does each woman require?
= by using our famous multitasking ability and less complicated thinking to come to the goal in sight.
All three women have come a long way, after their much loved flying careers came to an abrupt end due to ill-health creeping in on them over several years. 'Medical retirement' they called it. What wasn’t said was: Due to contaminated cabin air in their work environment. Contaminated by highly neurotoxic chemicals.
Over the years since, each woman on her own has researched and studied and piled up evidence and lists of help seekers. They have gathered information and knowledge concerning ‚Aerotoxic Syndrome’ , the neurological injuries after having been poisoned; women who may not be academics in the traditional sense or even decorated scholars, but experts in their own right by experimentation and observation in the old sense of the word ‚scientist’:
„A person who is studying or has expert knowledge of one or more of the natural or physical sciences.“
They have gathered insight in to the vast area that is called Aerotoxic Syndrome and with this intend to continue to help affected people, to educate the public and aviators about how and by what their health has been damaged and how to help themselves – through the eyes of a woman and a mother.
Each one has chosen her journey to fit in with what she feels strongly about , while accepting the valleys and peaks that make the going sometimes tedious.
Now the time has come to join forces and share their experience, wisdom and knowledge in a more compact and easy to understand way to help bring this disastreous situation to its final conclusion.
Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected
are as outraged as those who are.
